About Us

Glow Worm Play Cafe started as a children’s clothing pop-up in 2017. Our focus was and remains on ethically made goods from around the world. In 2021, Glow Worm began construction on a brick and mortar and opened in November 2021 as Louisville’s first play cafe — an indoor playground for kids with a cute and comfy lounge for parents to hang out in. Glow Worm offers a specialty retail section, food and beverages, an indoor/outdoor play area, community classes, and party rentals. Our focus is on community — we love to bring people together!

  • Role: Assistant Camp Counselor
    Pay Rate: $13/hour
    Type: Part Time (20 hours per week)
    Dates: June 2 - Aug 1, 2025

    Overview:

    The assistant camp counselor should be enthusiastic about working with children age 4 to 8, and bring a positive attitude and willingness to engage in play with children. 

    Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Report directly to Head Camp Counselor

    • Assist campers with daily activities, including arts & crafts, free play, lunch, and other duties as assigned

    • Ability to maintain supervision of children at all times

    • Assist in enforcing safety and house rules

    • Cleaning & organization of classroom during and in between activities

    • Ability to keep a welcoming & positive attitude

    • Ability to follow instructions

    • A passion for working with children, coupled with a commitment to engaging in play and learning alongside them

    • A respect for children’s dignity, reflected in how adults communicate with, guide, and support them

    • A belief in empowering children, ensuring they have the freedom to make meaningful decisions

    • Communicate effectively with your direct supervisor

    • Collaborate with team members to provide the best experience for the campers and their parents

    Requirements:

    • Minimum age of 14

    • Experience working with children

    • Standing for long periods of time

    • Ability to handle a high volume of noise

    Preferred but not required:

    • CPR certification
