Welcome to the Caterpillar Club at Glow Worm Cafe & Play Highlands, where we provide affordable and enriching classes and groups for caregivers and children age 0-8.

From occupational and speech therapist support for parents & children to after school kids club and evening yoga, we have something for everyone.

All Caterpillar Club classes & groups take place in the classroom at Glow Worm Cafe & Play Highlands, located at 962 Barret Ave, Louisville, KY 40204.

  • Cocoon: New Parent Support Group

    Who: New moms looking for community and early socialization for their babies 12 months and younger in a casual setting

    What: Parents circle up and get to know one another by sharing simple things about their week and their babies, as well as their journey through motherhood. This group is facilitated by a rotating group of friendly, knowledgable parents.

    When: Every Tuesday fro 9:30-11:30am in the classroom at Glow Worm Highlands

    Facilitators: Katie Read, Kasey Gurly, Sydney Ross, Megan Meyerhoffer

    Cost: Always free. Registration is NOT required for Cocoon.

  • Baby Social Circle

    Who: Parents/caregivers of babies 12 months and under looking for community and early socialization for their babies

    What: OT-directed play and social group that encourages skill development with a focus on caregiver-baby bonding and peer interaction.

    When: Six week series from October 9-November 13, 2024 on Wednesdays from 9-10am.

    Facilitator: Chelsea Stivers, MS, OTR/L

    Total Cost: $72/child + sales tax for 6 weeks

  • Postpartum Wellness Group

    Who: Caregivers & babies 6 months and under

    What: A workshop focusing on postpartum healing, maternal mental wellbeing, and re-discovery after birth. This workshop will be conversation and activity based (supplemental workbook) with group and individual reflection.

    When: Six week series from October 10-November 14, 2024 on Thursdays from 10am-11am.

    Facilitator: Chelsea Stivers, MS, OTR/L

    Total Cost: $72/family + sales tax for 6 weeks

  • Neurodivergent Social Circle

    Who: Parents who may be neurodivergent themselves and/or parents of neurodivergent children

    What: A conversation-based parenting group that focuses on co-regulation, behavior, and connection. Being a parent who is neurodivergent AND/OR parenting a child who is neurodivergent comes with unique challenges and perspectives. This group is to connect, support, and inform through a unique lens. The term 'neurodiverse' includes a lot of diagnoses, such as autism, ADHD, anxiety and more.

    When: Six week series from October 10-November 14, 2024 on Thursdays from 11am-12pm.

  • Sensory Play Group

    Who: Parents and children age 1-5

    What: Through playful provocations, children will explore senses that help them perceive the world around them with an Occupational Therapist. Each week they will explore a new sense: sight, hearing, taste, temperature, smell. touch, temperature, & proprioception. Parents will have the opportunity to learn how our brain interprets these senses and how they work together.

    When: Six week series from October 10-November 14, 2024 on Thursdays from 9am-10am.

    Total Cost: $90/child + sales tax for 6 weeks

  • Parent Social Circle

    Who: Parents and children age 1-5

    What: While children enjoy play, parents will have the opportunity to ask questions related to child development with an OT and SLP! Curious if a speech pattern is typical? How to foster connection? Need help managing a tricky behavior or wondering what your child is seeking? Ask away in a judgment free, loving, & supportive community. There will also be a theme for each class that allows parents to better connect with their child.

    When: Six week series from October 13-November 17, 2024 on Sundays from 9am-10am.

    Facilitator: Waypoint Education

    Total Cost: $90/child + sales tax for 6 weeks

  • Prepping for Kindergarten

    Who: Kids age 4-5 in the final year before kindergarten

    What: This kids-only class will introduce prewriting and early math skills through books, music, games, and art. Kids will practice speaking, listening, and following directions in a fun and casual classroom setting. Parents will be provided with simple ways to practice skills at home. Parents are required to stay on premise but are invited to sit in the cafe during class.

    When: Six week series from October 8-November 12, 2024 on Tuesdays from 1pm-2pm.

    Total Cost: $120/child + sales tax for 6 weeks

  • Story Time Yoga (Weekdays)

    Who: Walkers to age 5. Caregivers are welcome to participate or sit in our cafe during the class.

    What: Strengthen your bodies and the bond between you and your little one. In Story Time Yoga we will be moving our bodies, singing, learning, and laughing together- all centered around a good book.

    When: Every Wednesday from 10:30am-11:15am beginning Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Drop in classes or discounted class packs available.

    Total Cost: $10 + sales tax for one class / $48 + sales tax for 6 class pack (Not required to use consecutively).

  • Story Time Yoga (Saturday)

    Who: Recommended for children ages 3-5. Caregivers are encouraged to participate in this class.

    What: Don't just listen to a story - move along with it! Breathe, stretch, be silly, balance and have fun while listening to narrative from around the world while incorporating yoga postures.

    When: Once a month on Saturdays from 10am-10:45am.

  • Mini & Me Yoga

    Who: Walkers to age 3 and their caregivers

    What: Caregivers and their kiddos will move together through yoga and yoga-inspired poses and breathing techniques that build body awareness, self-soothing skills and connection between littles and their grown-ups.

    When: Weekly on Tuesdays from 5:30pm-6:15pm beginning Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

    Total Cost: $10 + sales tax for one class / $48 + sales tax for 6 class pack (Not required to use consecutively)

  • After School Kids Club: Yoga

    Who: Kids age 5-8. Caregivers are not required to participate and may sit in the cafe during class.

    What: A jovial extra curricular club for kids age 5-8 where developmentally derived games, teamwork challenges, explorations with balance, and self regulation opportunities through breathing practices and relaxation techniques abound.

    When: Every Wednesday from 3:00pm-4:00pm beginning Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

  • Creative Kids Lab

    Who: Best for kids age 2-5. Younger and older kiddos are welcome.

    What: Great to add on to your play session, or drop in for some creative exploration! Each week, little artists will explore new and exciting crafts, from painting and collages to texture play and simple sculpture. This class is supervised by a facilitator who is ready to guide your child as needed. Our engaging and age-appropriate activities are designed to spark imagination and develop fine motor skills, all while having fun!

    When: Weekly on Fridays from 9:00am-10:00am beginning October 11, 2024

    Total Cost: $32/child + sales tax for 4 week series

  • Creative Movement (Age 1-3)

    Who: Recommended for children ages 1-3. Caregivers are encouraged to participate in this class.

    What: Little dancers are introduced to the art of dance through imaginative games, music and storytelling. With a focus on creativity and expression, students will engage in playful activities that enhance their motor skills, coordination, and social interaction. Ballet shoes encouraged, but not required.

    When: Every Friday from 10:00am-10:45am from Friday, October 11 - November 15, 2024.

    Total Cost: $60 + sales tax per child for 6 weeks

    Who: Recommended for children ages 3-5. Caregivers are not required to participate but must stay on site during this class.

  • After School Kids Club: Dance

    Who: Recommended for children ages 6-9. Caregivers are not required to participate but we recommend staying on site during this class.

    What: This class combines the elegance of ballet with the upbeat energy of jazz, encouraging children to express themselves creatively through movement. We focus on basic technique, improvisation and storytelling through dance. Ballet shoes encouraged, but not required.

    When: Every Thursday from 3:45pm-4:45pm beginning January 9, 2025.

  • Prenatal Yoga

    Who: Expecting mothers

    What: Relax the mind and body during pregnancy with yoga designed to support the needs of expecting mothers. We will build strength and flexibility in the body to prepare for birth, as well as offer supportive stretches to maximize comfort throughout the changes and challenges of pregnancy. Please bring a yoga mat, a water bottle, and a pillow.

    When: Weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30pm-7:30pm from October 15-November 19, 2024.

  • Restorative Yoga for Mama

    Who: All mothers of any age and ability are welcome

    What: This is a quiet restorative yoga class giving mamas the time and space to create passive postures often using props such as blankets, blocks, or bolsters, that invite the body into gentle stretches that can be held for as long as ten minutes. Through this restorative act of self care, mamas will experience deep rest in body and mind and return to their families feeling renewed and re-energized. Bring your own mat.

    When: Weekly on Sundays from 6:00pm-7:00pm beginning Sunday, October 6, 2024

FAQ

  • It depends on the group or class. Our 6 week series classes are intended to have the same group of folks each week so that our facilitators can get to know you and your families and follow up each week. It's also an opportunity to get to know the other families in your class! Our one-off classes are marked as such and we also offer discounted bulk passes linked in the description of the class.

  • This is our first series of classes! We will be launching additional series soon that begin in January and we will notify our customers via our email if they are on the waitlist. Be sure to signup for the waitlist so you know about new classes first!

  • Yes! Please just reach out to Katie at hey@glowwormplaycafe.com if you are going to miss a class and we will add a makeup class for you during our next series or for a one-off class, we will reschedule the appointment for you. We do ask for 24 hours notice for all cancellations and reschedule requests unless a family emergency can be proven.

  • Not exactly. All of our Caterpillar Club classes and groups take place in the classroom at Glow Worm Highlands. If you are signed up for a play group, we will have play equipment and stations set it in our classroom pertaining to the group you're in.

  • Eventually! We are working on it. Since this is a brand new offering for us, we are going to see how the first series of classes go. We've aimed to make our classes and groups as affordable as possible to meet the needs of families in our community. One-off classes also offer bulk passes at a 20% off discount.

  • Discounts are available for yoga, art and after school classes using your member discount code for classes. Discounts are not available for other Caterpillar Club classes or groups, as we have made them as affordable as possible for all customers. The class discount code is different than your membership code to book play sessions and can be found in your membership packet.

  • Yes! We are actively working on it, as our goal with all Glow Worm offerings is to provide as much as possible to our customers to accommodate all schedules and family structures. Join our waitlist to learn when new classes and groups are available.

  • We do not offer refunds, but will provide a store credit in the amount of your purchase. Since the 6 week classes are for preregistration only, we are not able provide a refund or store credit after the series begins. We have a limited capacity for all classes and groups and our facilitators are paid at the start of each series.
